SMD marking decoder calculator

Two or three characters on a package 2 mm long, and no reel to check them against. A resistor code is real arithmetic — three digits are two significant figures then a power of ten, so 103 is 10×103 = 10 kΩ — and this tool will tell you the answer flatly. A three-lead package is the opposite: its code belongs to whoever made it, another maker may use the same two characters for something else entirely, so the honest output is a shortlist. The mistake to avoid is settling a transistor from the code alone; make the package outline and the circuit agree with the answer before you order the part.

More than one system fits these characters. They are listed most likely first, but nothing except the package outline and the circuit can actually decide it — a code alone never carries that information.

Which system you are reading is decided by the package, not by the code — and the package is usually the faster read.
