Kick closes the momentary switch and dumps BT1's voltage onto the cap; from there the energy sloshes between the cap's charge and the coil's magnetic field at f₀ — when Vc peaks the orange bar is full, a quarter period later the blue one is. R is the tax collector: every pass through it shrinks both bars together, and the run lands on exact zero once the ring is spent. Set R to 0 and there is nothing to collect — Q goes infinite and the tank still holds every joule when the window runs out. The window follows the RING rather than the component values: it ends where the envelope has decayed.
